A man stole cash from a bookmakers in Banbury after threatening a staff member with a knife last night (Saturday).

Just before 10pm, the man entered Corals on Ruscote Avenue and went up to the counter before demanding cash from the till. The assistant handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the man ran out of the shop.

The offender is described as 6’ and was wearing black clothing, had his face covered and turned left after leaving the shop. The assistant was not injured but he was left shaken and upset.

Detective Sergeant Jim Holmes, investigating the incident, said: “The Co-op next door to the bookmakers was just closing at the time of the incident and I am keen to speak to anyone who saw a man hanging around outside the shops or running away from the shop at the time of the robbery.”

Anyone with information should call the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
