Police investigate ‘unofficial grave’ in Bankside

THAMES Valley Police has confirmed it is investigating reports of an ‘unofficial grave’ at Bankside Park in Banbury.

A heavy police presence has been at the scene since yesterday (Wednesday) after a council worker reported a patch of disturbed earth.

A statement from Thames Valley Police said: “Thames Valley Police officers are currently at Bankside park in Banbury. A call was received from a council worker at about 2.30pm yesterday (Wednesday), to reports that a patch of disturbed earth had been discovered in a wooded area at the park which the caller believed could possibly be an unofficial grave. A scene watch has been put in place overnight to allow forensic examination of the scene this morning (Thursday).”
