Pair take steps to cut carbon footprint
A COUPLE are inviting people to join them in taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint by joining a new Carbon Conversations group.
For the past six years Jane Orton and Tony Wragg of Bloxham Road, Banbury, have been changing their lifestyle and making home improvements in a bid to reduce their CO2 emissions.
They have been supported in their efforts by the Carbon Conversations community, which encourages people to share practical ideas on how to reduce their carbon footprint.
Mr Wragg said: “We had been thinking for some time about ways in which we could make our contribution, but for individuals the problem of containing the effects of global warming seemed so huge we didn’t know where to start.
“We started with some practical things about the house then Jane saw an article in the paper about a new approach called Carbon Conversations. The great thing about the group is that it is not all sackcloth and ashes or guilt tripping. It’s about talking with others about what’s important in your life so you can focus on the things you really can’t do without and let go of the stuff that doesn’t really make you happy.”
Among the techniques adopted by the couple are using bicycles instead of cars, reviewing their home insulation and growing their own food at their allotment in Springfield Avenue.
