DEDDINGTON National Farmers Union (NFU) has donated 1,000 Neighbourhood and Country Watch scheme signs to Thames Valley Police.

The “you are being watched” signs have now been placed across Cherwell to highlight that the residents are on the lookout for crime.

Kevin Rillie, the NFU’s group secretary, said: “This is an opportunity for us to support the local community and make people feel more secure and hopefully make them more secure as well.”

PC Deborah Hextall, neighbourhood watch co-ordinator, said: “We would like to thank the NFU for their support and for working with us on this.”

She added the signs are not simply put up randomly and people should know that when the signs are up, there are people looking out.

For more information about the scheme contact Deborah Hextall on 01295 754611, visit https://www.thamesvalleyalert.co.uk or call the non-emergency number 101.
