Man jailed for stealing DVDs
The following cases were heard at Banbury Magistrates’ Court between January 4 and January 9:
Steven Butler, 25, of Station Approach, Grimsbury, admitted stealing six DVDs to the value of £77.94 from BHS; to stealing DVD cases to a value unknown from Morrisons; to stealing confectionary and a drink to a value known from Co-op and to committing an offence while subject to a conditional discharge. For all offences, the two original offences of stealing DVDs from BHS and Matalan and a further offence which was taken into consideration, he was given a 28-day prison sentence
Paul Breakell, 44, of Ashmead Road, Banbury, admitted possessing of amphetamine and was fined £40, ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge and £10 costs. He also admitted the commission of a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge order imposed for theft and was fined an additional £20.
James Devonish, 18 of Boxhedge Road West, Banbury, admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a youth rehabilitation order. He had the order revoked and was resentenced for the two original offences of robbery of food and was sentenced to 21 days in a young offenders’ institution.
James Campbell-Cook, 30, of Queen Street, Farthinghoe, pleaded guilty to drink driving and was given a community order with the requirement to carry out 100 hours unpaid work, ordered to pay £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He was also disqualified from driving for 24 months.
Hayley Cousins, 36, of Lidsey Road, Banbury, admitted using threatening words or behaviour. She was fined £50, ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge and £25 costs.
Daniel Hanwell, 19, of Middleton Road, Banbury, admitted failing to comply with the requirements of a supervision order. He was fined £30 and ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge.
James Farries, 21, of Warwick Road, Banbury, admitted stealing money and one item of clothing to the value of £730 belonging to his employer. He was fined £400, ordered to pay £40 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
Alexander Wilson, 30, of Rowell Way, Chipping Norton, admitted driving at 47mph in a 30mph zone. He was fined £300, ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge, £150 costs and had his licence endorsed with six points.
Chistina Tibbetts, of Milcombe, admitted owning a dog which was dangerous and not kept under proper control. She was warned the dog must be kept under control or face destruction and ordered to pay £150 costs.
Leon Drummond, 40, of Thornbury Rise, Banbury, admitted being a person in charge of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in a public place that was dangerously out of control and caused injury. He was warned to keep the dog securely under control using a lead and a muzzle by a person aged at least 16-years-old or it will be destroyed. He was fined £100, ordered to pay £37 compensation, £15 victim surcharge and £40 costs.
Nicola Peel-Yates, 32, of Old Brewery Walk, Brackley, admitted speeding at 102mph in a 70mph zone. She was fined £440, ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge and £65 costs. Her licence was endorsed with six points.
Christopher Sargeant, 40, of Highlands, Lower Tadmarton, admitted speeding at 52mph in a 30mph zone. He was fined £1,000, ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge, £65 costs and banned from driving for 14 days.
Caroline O’Connell, 33, of Jubilee Court, Banbury, admitted stealing meat products to a value unknown from Co-op and was jailed for 56 days.
Mamood Rashid, 33, of Grimsbury Square, Banbury, admitted using a vehicle with equipment likely to cause danger of injury, namely insufficient light passing through the driver’s door window and was given an absolute discharge.
Patrick Hoare, 40, of Great Rollright, pleaded guilty to failing to give identity of driver information. He was fined £200, ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge, £80 costs and had his licence endorsed with six points.
