Girl guider presented with top challenge award
Madison Jordan, 13, receives her Baden-Powell Challenge Award from Marian Trinder, the Deddington District Commissioner for Girlguiding
A member of the 1st Adderbury Guides group has been presented with the highest possible Guiding award.
Madison Jordan, 13, received her Baden-Powell Challenge Award last week after completing a number of different challenges which concluded with an adventure weekend with other Oxfordshire guides in Bath.
She said: “I enjoyed working for the award, although it was hard work, and particularly enjoyed making new friends at the adventure weekend in Bath.”
Madison was presented with the award by Marian Trinder, Deddington’s District Commissioner for Girlguiding, in a short ceremony in which other Guides told the story of the challenges Madison overcame to achieve the award. To complete it, Guides must carry out challenges from five different categories.
Part ofMadison’s work towards the award was running activities for the other guides in the unit, completing badges and organising a party for residents at Lake House care home in Adderbury.
Madison has been a guide in Adderbury for about three years, and has taken part in many of the unit’s activities including camps, trips and sponsored events.
She hopes to move on and become a young leader with Rainbows when she is 14.
