A woman who is trekking the Great Wall of China for charity after facing the possibility of losing her little brother to cancer is arranging a curry evening in Banbury to raise funds for her trip.

Samantha Davis, 27, of Grimsbury, is undertaking the challenge to raise money for CLIC Sargent – the children and young people’s cancer charity which helped her family when her brother Adrian, now 21, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour at the age of 15.

“We found out that my brother’s tumour is re-growing and he is going to have to start chemotherapy in the next month which has made me even more determined to raise money for this amazing cause,” said Mrs Davis.

The curry night will be held at the Jaypur restaurant in Parsons Street, Banbury, on February 25. The restaurant will be offering a starter, any main, rice or naan and poppadoms for £15.

Tables are available from 6pm and there will also be raffle held on the night. Although Mrs Davis is not off to China until September, she has been hard at work raising money and has already raised nearly £1,100 of her £3,200 goal.

Today (Thursday) between 10am and noon, she is holding a coffee morning at Hanwell Fields Community Centre and on March 1, she is arranging a zumba party at Woodgreen Leisure Centre.
