Interior designer and TV presenter Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen will open Banbury’s new-look B&Q store on Friday, February 22.

The shop, off the Southam Road, will reveal its new layout after six weeks of building work took place while the store remained open.

David Cook, store manager, said: “Our store has been over a year in the planning as we aim to bring a world-leading home improvement shopping experience to our customers in Banbury.

“We’ll be offering unique products, always at a lower cost, accessible when they need it and we’ll be the first port of call for help and advice.

“We want to inspire our customers to improve their homes and to do that we had to make the shopping experience easier, simpler and more cost effective at the same time as showcasing our unique products in a more trend-led way.”

The store is one of just three in the country being designed to reflect changes in the home improvement market and will have more than 1,000 new products in decor, home furnishings and lighting.

Additional help and advice kiosks will be placed throughout the store.

There will also be a new offer for little ones, with children’s DIY workshops over the opening weekend for £5.

Children can pick up valuable skills by learning how to make a bird box or a wheel barrow planter.

Mr Cook said: “Our customers will be the judge and we look forward to re-opening the doors of our three new format stores and hearing what they think.”

As part of the opening, there is a competition to look for the next Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen to open the store with the TV star.

Budding interior designers who think they have got what it takes should e-mail bandqbanbury@z-pr.com and say in no more than 150 words why they should get the chance to meet him and open the store.
