Family fun day raises vital cash
A family fun day organised by a couple who lost their baby during pregnancy has raised funds for a charity that helped them through the crisis.
In September, Darren and Sarah Loveridge of Church View in Banbury lost their son Hayden Jacob Loveridge at just 24 weeks at the Horton Maternity Hospital in Banbury. Hayden’s due date would have been January 8.
To bring something positive out of their terrible loss, the couple decided to arrange a funfilled day in memory of Hayden and raise cash for Oxfordshire SANDS; a stillbirth and neonatal death charity.
On Sunday, St John’s Community Hall in Dashwood Road, Banbury was filled with people both young and old enjoying the day.
“It was amazing, the hall was consistently full for three-and-a-half hours and at times there was even a queue,” said Mrs Loveridge. “The support has just been amazing and we’d like to thank everyone for making this such a success.”
Entertainment included face painting, cake stalls, lucky dips and a big raffle with 73 prizes donated by local businesses.
The couple have raised more than £3,000 and their efforts are being match funded by Barclays.
