Donation to baby care unit

STAFF and parents at a hospital unit for premature and poorly babies are celebrating the purchase of a new sofa bed.

Banbury’s Special Care Baby Unit at the Horton General Hospital received £500 from Tesco towards re-vamping the facilities uesd by parents who stay at the unit.

Tesco bakery manager Paul McGarry said: “We were contacted by a member of the public who had to use the facilities at the Banbury unit and was so impressed by the staff there that she wanted to do something to help.

“So she asked the unit who said they would like to totally revamp the facilities that the parents use.

“Cash was donated by Tesco and staff bought the sofa bed to make the parents of babies that need that little bit of special attention more comfortable.”

The Special Care Baby Unit cares for about 350 babies a year who are born too early or with a medical condition.
