Crews still fighting cottage blaze

Three fire crews are still fighting a blaze which took hold in the thatched roof of a cottage in Swalcliffe shortly after 4pm yesterday evening.

Crews are using hosereels and a hydraulic platform to tackle the fire which started after the home owner lit a fire in the hearth.

The blaze has been contained to a single property.

Residents at the scene yesterday expressed their concern that the blaze could spread as the village has a high proportion of thatched homes.

More updates will be posted here as we have them.

If you witnessed the blaze post your comments here or on the Banbury Guardian’s Facebook page.
