Couple’s fundraiser in memory of son

A BANBURY couple who lost their baby during pregnancy are organising a family fun day to raise funds for stillbirth and neonatal death charity SANDS.

Sarah and Darren Loveridge’s son Hayden Jacob Loveridge died at just 24 weeks at the Horton Maternity Hospital in Banbury.

Hayden’s due date would have been January 8, 2013, so to bring something positive out of their terrible loss in memory of their son, the couple have organised a fun event which will include face painting, glitter tattoos, cake stalls, refreshments, lucky dips and a big raffle.

Mrs Loveridge explained: “It was devastating. Your world just sort of ends at that point in time.

“We want to raise money which can help fund research to see why these things are happening, why some parents are going full term with their babies and some aren’t.”

She added: “We’ve heard from a lot of people who have been in the same situation, including three families in Banbury just recently, and we wanted to help raise awareness and raise some more money to help them carry on their great work.”

Mrs Loveridge said SANDS offers vital support and counselling for families including creating memory boxes, photos and handprints for parents who have lost a child.

Raffle tickets cost £2 and can be purchased from Ekko hair salon and Star UK Travel in Banbury and from Mr and Mrs Loveridge on 07917 886067 or sarah0511@btinternet.com.

The fun day takes place at St John’s Community Hall, Dashwood Road, Banbury on Sunday, February 10 from 2pm.
