Cottage destroyed by fire

Twelve fire crews battled to save a cottage in Swalcliffe throughout the weekend after a fire broke out in the thatched roof.

The property on Main Road was largely destroyed but villagers have rallied round to support the Melvin family who own the property.

Residents have donated clothes and personal items and organised a village supper on Sunday to collect donations.
