A £150,000 makeover of Chipping Norton Leisure Centre’s gym has been unveiled.

The project at the site in Burford Road was funded by West Oxfordshire District Council and opened to the public last Thursday by councillor Richard Langridge.

Mr Langridge is cabinet member for local economy, communities and culture at West Oxfordshire District Council.

He said: “This wonderful refurbishment has brought the gym bang up to date and offers a great opportunity for young and old alike to get fit and healthy in a welcoming facility.”

The makeover included a complete redecoration, new equipment and a new layout.

Additional floor space
for stretching and core stability are amongst some of the improved facilities in the air-conditioned gym.

Operator GLL also contributed to the redecoration, and arranged a temporary gym in the centre’s studio and squash court until work was completed. The popular leisure centre was built more than ten years ago and shares its use with Chipping Norton School.
