A new exhibition has gone on display at the gallery in Chipping Norton Theatre.

Cotswold – An exhibition by Rupert Aker, is a scenic display of paintings by the artist of the same name.

Mr Aker, who is based at his studio in Painswick in Gloucestershire, has unveiled his latest exhibition today (Thursday), which will run until Monday, February 11.

Describing his work on his website, Mr Aker, who paints mainly in oils, said: “I aim to capture the light and the land through the medium of oil painting.”

Alongside the oils Mr Aker favours working on textured papers and larger canvases.

Applying the oil with a palette knife, and working it in with rags and his fingers, the results are elemental and ethereal interpretations of the Cotswold landscape.

Mr Aker’s display will be open to the public on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 3pm and during films and performances.
