MORE than 600 seats will be available to commuters travelling from Banbury to London as Chiltern Railways makes changes to its timetable.
The new timetable will be launched on Sunday, December 9 following a public consultation earlier this year.
Key benefits include a seven-carriage train on the popular 6.58am service from Banbury to London and a six-carriage train on the 7.24am train.
Jennifer Payne, customer services director at Chiltern Railways, said: “Banbury is an important town to us at the heart of our network. The new timetable reflects the issues that our customers said were important to them. As the changes are significant, we would recommend that all our regular travellers download the timetable to check how their journey will be affected.”
More than 7,000 people responded to the proposed changes, with many highlighting concerns regarding the level of service at King’s Sutton.
The 6.09am, 6.57am, 8.11am and 9.10am trains will stop at the village en route to the capital on Monday to Friday, with a 5.33pm and 6.33pm service coming back.
Villager Tony Cross said: “The new timetable is a huge improvement over the initial proposals and I hope Chiltern will sustain this level of service in the future.”
