Celebrations under way as pre-school makes the grade
A RECENTLY re-located pre-school is “very pleased” with its good Ofsted report.
Inspectors visited Hardwick and Arden Pre-School in Ferriston, Banbury, at the beginning of December and awarded it an overall level two ‘good’ grade.
In her report inspector Angela Cole wrote: “There are warm and caring relationships between children and all staff. Children’s behaviour is good and they are well settled and secure, which enables them to organise much of their own time.
“All children, including those with additional needs, make good progress from their starting points and achieve well.”
The areas graded were how well the early years’ provision meets the needs of the range of children who attend, the contribution of the early years’ provision to the wellbeing of children and the effectiveness of the leadership and management of the early years’ provision, which all scored level two grades.
Pre-school manager Pat Coyne said: “We are very pleased with our good Ofsted rating. We moved into Hardwick Community Centre in September 2012. This was to enable us to expand our provision.
“We are in the process of developing our outside area so any finacial support or donations to help improve this provision would be greatly received.”
The report said areas for improvement included finding the most effective use of routines and small group work and to extend the programme for literacy to include support for children to recognise words and symbols that take account of their different interests.
Hardwick and Arden Pre-School is a voluntary group managed by a committee. It has 46 children on its roll aged from three to four.
