Bikes and weapon seized in police raid
A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after police seized stolen bikes and an air rifle from a Banbury home.
Officers carried out a warrant at the property on the Bretch Hill estate on Tuesday.
It is believed the items that were recovered may link back to a burglary carried out in December.
Sergeant Richard Miller, neighbourhood sergeant for Banbury, said: “We made the relevant checks and had a good idea of what was going on through local intelligence.
“It has been a success in that we have found items we believe to have been stolen.”
Police officers spent more than hour searching the home, and also seized a small scrambler bike and a compressor which will now be tested by Banbury CID officers.
The man, who was also arrested on suspicion of possessing an air weapon and theft of pedal cycles, was released on bail until May 1.
Sergeant Miller said: “Our neighbourhood team works closely with housing associations to help reduce crime in the area.
“I would urge anyone who has any information about crime in the community to let us know.
“Even if it is something really small, it might be that missing piece of the jigsaw we need to help our enquiries.”
