Bid to convert empty town building into dentist

A NEW NHS dentist could be opening its doors in Brackley later this year.

Berkshire-based Dentalcare Ltd has submitted plans to South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) to convert 2 Bridge Street into a dental surgery. The building has been empty since 2009 and before that was owned by SNC.

The application includes turning the ground and part of the first floor into three treatment rooms, a reception and waiting area, a sterilisation room and toilets. The rest of the first floor and the second floor will be converted into flats.

A design and access statement for the application said: “NHS Northamptonshire has undertaken an oral health needs assessment and Brackley was identified as an area in need of increased NHS dentistry provision.

“Dentalcare Ltd are working with NHS Northamptonshire to ensure equitable access for all to high-quality NHS dentistry.”

A decision will be made by South Northamptonshire Council’s planning committee on a date to be decided later this year.
