Arrest made following cannabis find

A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after police removed 180 mature cannabis plants from a property in Brackley yesterday (Wednesday).

Officers from the Brackley Safer Community Teams carried out a warrant at the home in Laws Croft following reports of a strange smell and suspicious activity in the area. The plants were removed from three rooms and a vehicle was also seized.

Sergeant Steve Neal of South Northamptonshire Safer Community Team in Brackley, said: “We will not tolerate drug offences in Brackley. Where intelligence suggests this activity is taking place, we will seek to gain the necessary evidence to support the criminal charges. By working together, we can help all concerned.”

A scene guard was put in place overnight, and a forensic examination took place today (Thursday). The man is currently in custody at Northampton’s Criminal Justice Centre.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Northamptonshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
