‘Armed robber’ remains at large

POLICE are continuing to search for a suspected armed robber who attempted to rob Easington sub Post Office on Thursday.

At about 11.50am, the suspect who was believed to be armed with an unknown weapon, threatened staff at the post office who raised the alarm causing him to flee on foot.

He ran off in the direction of St George Crescent, without taking any property.

Armed police officers and dog handlers were among the dozens of officers dispatched to the scene and nearby area to hunt for the man, who has yet to be arrested.

The offender is white, around 5ft 10ins of very slim build, in his late teens or early twenties. He was wearing a grey hooded top with white pull cords, black skinny jeans and a scarf over his face. He was carrying a white JD Sports bag.
