Police officers gathered in streets around Woodgreen Avenue before making an arrrest

ARMED police officers yesterday (Thursday) arrested a man in connection with a suspected robbery attempt at Easington Sub Post Office.

At about 11am two armed officers accompanied by another officer knocked on the door of a house in Banbury and arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of robbery.

Three more officers were deployed to the scene before a hooded man was led out in handcuffs.

The man has been released on bail until November 8.

Last Thursday an offender threatened staff and a customer at Easington Sub Post Office in Horton View. The offender fled empty handed after staff pressed a panic alarm, sparking a search around the town involving more than 20 officers, armed police and dog handlers.

- Thames Valley Police intially identified the arrested individual as a 19-year-old. We can now confirm he is aged 18.
