An X-tra special day for Carole

A WOMAN from Banbury described meeting X-Factor finalist Jahmene Douglas as ‘a perfect end to the year.’

Carole Johnson, of Hastings Road, who battled numerous health problems last year which including being diagnosed with cancer, won a competition to see the 22-year-old perform in Shrewsbury on December 30.

Mrs Johnson said: “I could not believe that I had won – I thought I was in a dream. I was quite lucky that I was feeling good on the day, so I managed to book accommodation and got myself up to the venue for the night.

“I knew that if I didn’t go I might never get another chance.”

The 69-year-old won a competition with music venue The Buttermarket, where Jahmene was performing, and was a VIP guest on the night, meeting the singer before he performed and being invited on stage in between his songs.

Mrs Johnson said: “Last year was an awful year of ups and downs with my health, but all of the staff on the night were really helpful and kind to me. I had a great night and it was amazing to meet him. It was a perfect way to end what has been a tough year.”
