Abandoned kittens found dumped in bag at church

Waiting for Video...

THREE abandoned kittens, a lost ferret and another kitten which was found inside a car engine all need new homes after being handed into a Banbury vets.

Last Tuesday, three kittens were taken to Hawthorne Lodge Veterinary Practice after a member of the public found them dumped inside a zipped up sports bag.

The following day another kitten was taken to the practice after a driver discovered it inside his Audi car engine and, on Monday, a ferret was also handed into staff after it fell from the roof of a house in Usher Drive, Banbury and was found in a garden.

Staff at the practice are now looking to rehome the three abandoned kittens and have launched a search for the owners of the ferret and fourth kitten.

Veterinary nurse Amanda Tudhope said: “The three kittens were brought in last week having been found in a zipped up sports bag near St Mary’s Church in Banbury.

“Someone had cared enough to leave them somewhere they would be found but they were left in an enclosed, zipped up bag. We have no idea where they have come from or their history but they are young and healthy.” The three kittens – two female and one male – are believed to be about seven weeks old and have been nicknamed Pepper, Pudding and Pickle by staff who are currently fostering the trio. The fourth kitten, nicknamed Audi, is a healthy female who is slightly older than the other three. She is also being fostered by staff who believe she may have travelled in the car from Cropredy.

Staff also believe the female ferret is lost rather than abandoned as she is tame to handle. Anyone who is interested in taking on the kittens or who has any information about the owners of the other animals should call the vets on 01295 259446.
