98-year-old celebrates her birthday with a quickstep

Today, Effie Grant celebrated her 98th birthday with her friends in the Banbury dance club The Friday Follies.

About 20 members, aged between 70 and 80, turned up at St Paul’s Church Hall on Warwick Road to mark the occasion with everyone taking part in everything from a quickstep to a waltz.

As the club’s oldest member, Mrs Grant was there right from the start when Joyce Over started the club 30 years ago.

“We all love it and it keeps you fit,” she said.
