A 25-year-old man was left with swelling and bruising to his face after he was assaulted in Banbury.
The victim was walking through the underpass between Grimsbury Green and Waterworks Lane at about 6.15am last Thursday, when he was approached by two men who asked for a lighter. When he reached for his bag one of the men punched him in the face before stealing his bag.
The first offender who assaulted the victim wa white, about 5ft 9in to 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build with stubble on his face. He was wearing light blue jeans, a navy blue hoody with yellow lettering and spoke with a thick eastern European accent.
The second suspect was white, about 5ft 9ins to 5ft 10inc tall and of slim build. He was wearing light blue jeans, a dark jacket and white t-shirt.
PC Stephen Perry of Banbury’s Priority Crime Team, said: “The underpass is usually very busy, so there may have been a number of witnesses to the incident. If anyone has any information about the offence please call the police immediately. “I would like to reassure the public that incidents of this nature are very rare in Banbury.”
