The incident occurred on Tuesday May 17 on a bus travelling through Lower Cherwell Street and Bridge Street between 11.40am and 12pm. The victim, a woman aged in her sixties, was sexually assaulted while on the B5 Stagecoach bus by a male passenger. While the victim was sitting on the bus, the offender moved to sit next to her and pressed himself against her.

When the bus arrived in the town centre, the victim attempted to leave the vehicle, and was again touched inappropriately by the offender. The man is Asian, in his mid to late sixties with grey hair swept back. He had no facial hair and light brown eyes. He is slim, about 5-ft-6-ins tall, and was wearing a cream coloured long sleeved jumper with a roll neck and brown trousers.

He was carrying a black zip up bag, and was wearing gold rings and a plaited bracelet.

Investigating officer PC Lucy McDonagh, based at Banbury police station, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to the offence or anyone who might be able to identify the suspect.”

“The victim has been left traumatised and shocked by what happened to her.”

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who might have had a similar experience to come forward with information.”
