Village part of big poppy planting project

Woodford Halse Parish Council and the 1st Woodford Halse Scouts are to plant poppy seeds by the village Memorial Hall to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War.

They are among more than 25 community groups due to receive a wildflower poppy mix after signing up to Daventry District Council’s Big Poppy Plant. Parish council chairman June Irani (second from left), said: “People associate poppies with Remembrance, but we will plant these poppies not just in memory of those who died in WW1 but to remember all those who have passed, whether in war or elsewhere.”
