Fire crews from three counties remain at the scene of a blaze at the Premier Inn hotel on the Warwick Road near Banbury tonight (Thursday)
Staff and customers were evacuated from the hotel and the neighbouring Wobbly Wheel pub after the blaze started at about 3pm.
Both the hotel and pub are owned by Whitbread PLC, which confirmed no-one was hurt in the blaze.
Anna Glover, Whitbread PLC’s group communication director, said: ”We can confirm that a fire started at the Banbury Premier Inn this afternoon. The emergency services were immediately called as part of our on-site Emergency Fire Action Plan.
“All guests and employees have been safely evacuated and no one has been hurt.
“We have found alternative accommodation for our guests and would like to apologise for any inconvenience that may have been caused.
“We are currently helping the fire service and the police with their enquiries and therefore aren’t able to make any further comments.”
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
