Gypsy jazz and vintage swing band Swing from Paris will perform at Chippy Jazz Festival later this month.
The band will bring visitors the sounds of a chic Parisian café and the French jazz of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.
Having made appearances at many major jazz festivals including Cheltenham, Brecon, Bude, and the Django Reinhardt Festival at Samois sur Seine, Swing will bring the audience tunes from many different eras of jazz – including music by Edith Piaf, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington and many more – and the band will feature special guest vocalist Jo Silver.
Jo’s sweet and sultry vocal style has graced the stage in her own band The Cafe Bohemia for the past ten years, and has supported everyone from Gino Washington and Nik Turner to John Renbourn and Dana Gillespie.
With violin, guitars and double bass, audiences can expect stylish jazz and vintage swing – all with the sounds of the streets of Paris.
Chippy Jazz Festival takes place on Sunday, September 29 and Swing from Paris will take to the stage at Chipping Norton Town Hall at 7.45pm.
Tickets are £16 for adults and £12 for under 15s. Go to www.chippingnortontheatre.com to book.
This year is the 16th Chippy Jazz Festival. See www.chippyjazz.org.uk for more information about the event.
