An intense and edgy show is coming to Banbury’s Mill Arts Centre.
Socially inept, repressed and introverted, butterfly collector Frederick Clegg admires and fantasises about beautiful, privileged art student Miranda Grey from afar... that is until he wins the lottery and buys a remote country house, devising a plan to make her his ‘guest’.
Frederick abducts Miranda, imprisoning her in the cellar of his remote home.
This piece explores the turbulence and confusion, the violence and the fear between the two and their claustrophobic relationship leads to a devastating climax.
With whom will you empathise? The abductor? The abductee? The action tilts from the amusing to the dangerous and allows the audience a voyeuristic insight into the drive and desperate nature of both the manipulator and the manipulated.
Peppered Wit Productions, made up largely of members of Banbury Cross Players, brings The Collector to the stage at 7.45pm on Wednesday, September 11.
The show is the first of The Mill’s autumn season and received plenty of praise when it was performed at The Gatehouse as part of The Camden Fringe last month.
Tickets are £10/£8. Call 01295 279002 or visit www.themillartscentre.com
