Teenagers attending Oxfordshire County Council’s Youth Hub in Banbury attempted to swim the length of the English Channel on Tuesday as part of a month-long charity extravaganza. They took part in a four-hour swimathon to swim 676 lengths of the 50m pool in aid of the No Second Night Out homeless project. It is one of 30 ‘Acts of Kindness’ carried out by the group throughout August.

Matty Townsend, 16, who took part in the swim, said: “I am really excited and looking forward to everybody working together to succeed.”
