Two parents committed to supporting the ‘amazing’ school that helps their disabled son are inviting residents to a fundraising event .
The Summer Soiree which will take place at the Enhance Clinic on Horsefair on Saturday August 16, is Sonia and Ravi Jandhyala’s second major fundraising event for Frank Wise School where their seven-year-old son Luca is a pupil.
The event, organised by the Jandhyalas and staff at the clinic owned by Mr Jandhyala, an aesthetics specialist, promises music, champagne, cocktails, a hog roast and prizes.
Mrs Jandhyala said: “Frank Wise pupils need much more than those in a mainstream setting, whether through IT, sensory apparatus or play equipment.
“The school is hugely dependent upon minibuses and specialist buggies. Some pupils also require aids to sit or stand to take part in activities.
“Unfortunately, there are huge costs associated with all these items.
“The school’s budget just cannot stretch to cover the costs. That is why we are doing our best to help.”
Luca was born with two unrelated, non-hereditary conditions, Apert Syndrome and Sturge Weber syndrome affecting his brain and physical development and leading to severe learning difficulties and developmental delay
Prizes donated by many local companies include a golf day for four, meals in local restaurants, hotel stays, beauty products and a spa day for two at Enhance worth £700.
There will be complementary treatments at Enhance’s hair and beauty studios, food from the Italian larder, popcorn, soft drinks and cakes and live music from 1pm with local musicians.
Proceeds from the event which runs from 10am-6pm will go to the Friends of Frank Wise School, a group set up to support fundraising.
