Oxfordshire Sands (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death charity) is one of four Banbury causes which have been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2013.
If successful, the charity would win a £3,000 grant from Lloyds Bank to help its vital work.
SANDS covers the Oxfordshire region including the area covered by the Horton and John Radcliffe hospitals. It offers befrienders, group support meetings, memory boxes and much more.
In addition to the charity’s bereavement support, volunteers also work hard to supply the local hospitals with foetal heart monitoring equipment.
Karen Hancox of the charity said: “We are extremely honoured and grateful to have been shortlisted for this community fund. As the death of a baby is such a taboo subject, this is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of our charity, which touches the hearts and lives of more families than people could possibly imagine.”
The three other causes are The Sunshine Centre, the Let’s Play Project and Dogs for the Disabled. For details on how to vote, visit www.lloydsbank.com/communityfund
