Two fire engines from Banbury were called to a fire at Encase Ltd on Friday morning.
They attended the premises on the Beaumont Road Industrial Estate at about 5am, where firefighters were confronted with smoke issuing from an open warehouse roller shutter door. A member of staff indicated there was a piece of machinery on fire in the factory.
All staff members were evacuated from the premises and the fire was quickly dealt with by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a high pressure hose reel jet. The warehouse was fully smoke logged and two high pressure fans were used to help remove the smoke from the building.
Crew manager Mike Aspinall said: “The quick thinking of the members of staff to raise the alarm, evacuate the building and call 999 meant we attended the fire within six minutes. The Encase factory is fitted with a sprinkler system which had activated and had helped suppress the fire.
“Due to the immediate actions from all involved this certainly stopped a major factory fire from happening on the same Industrial Estate to one earlier this year and will enable Encase to get back to full operation fairly quickly “
