Big-hearted slimmers from Banbury are doing their bit for local youngsters and their own health by taking part in a sponsored slim to raise money for Frank Wise School.
Members of the Saturday morning Slimming World group, held every week at the Frank Wise venue in Hornbeam Close, Banbury, are raising the cash as part of a national Slim for Good campaign running across all 11,000 Slimming World groups in the UK.
The aim of the six-week drive, which kicked off on February 24, is to help people to lose weight and improve their health while raising money for a good cause in their local area.
The 35 slimmers in the Saturday morning group voted to support the school with special educational needs because of its outstanding and inspirational work in supporting pupils.
Heather Woodward , who runs the group and has lost more than four stone herself, said the Slim for Good campaign will give members an added incentive to achieve their weight-loss dreams.
She said: “New year’s resolutions can often become a bit of a distant memory by late February and the motivation that you might have had at the start of January can begin to dip.
“If anyone’s feeling that way, I’m hoping getting sponsored to slim will give them the lift they need. When it’s a cause close to your heart, like Frank Wise School is for so many of us in the Saturday morning Slimming World group, it’s even more of a push.” She added: “We know that making healthy lifestyle changes to the way you eat and your activity levels makes a big difference to you, including improving your health and confidence.”
Sponsorship forms are available from the Slimming World Group at Frank Wise each Saturday from 10am.
