Banbury was buzzing on Friday night as The Dog and Gun pub in North Bar hosted the final of the Dog Factor singing contest.
Nine live acts sang two songs each as they took to the stage in the battle of Banbury’s most talented karaoke singers.
Contest judges Lainey King, Yanto Evans and Paul Dumas found it extremely difficult to separate the top two singers – Natasha Budd and Vanessa Hillbrandt – but the final song of the contest clinched it.
Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seiger was superbly performed by Vanessa, bagging the only perfect score of the night. This was the difference between the top two.
Mark Petrasidis, the only male singer in the final, finished a creditable third.
At the end of the evening Vanessa was presented with the £300 prize money and a trophy by singer Lainey King and will now record her winning single at Pegasus Studio in Banbury. This single will be played regularly at the Dog and Gun.
Landlord Graham Harris said: “Well done to all the contestants who made it such a successful contest. The competition will return in the New Year. A Banbury icon has been born!”
