Labour candidate Mark Cherry has won the Ruscote ward by-election for a vacancy on Cherwell District Council after polling yesterday (Thursday).
Mr Cherry gained 758 votes.
Pat Tompson (Conservative) came second with 323 votes and Christian Miller (UKIP) came in third with 206 votes.
The turnout was 21.2 per cent.
Mr Cherry was also elected to the Ruscote ward for Banbury Town Council with 834 votes. Pat Tompson came in second with 409 votes.
The conservatives remain in control of both councils with a strong majority.
