Reduced train service at Banbury following landslip

The landslip at Harbury tunnel is causing train delays between Banbury and Leamington Spa.

Chiltern Railways is running a reduced service from Banbury today (Saturday) following yesterday’s landslip near Leamington Spa.

Network Rail engineers have been working throughout the night to make the area safe, and no trains are running between Banbury and Leamington Spa. The train operator is running one train an hour between Birmingham Moor Street and Leamington Spa, which departs Birmingham at 15 minutes past the hour with an extra shuttle every two hours.

They are also running two trains an hour between London Marylebone and Banbury. The trains depart London Marylebone at nine minutes past the hour and 36 minutes past the hour. There may be some last minute delays and cancellations as a result of the landslip.

Anyone travelling north of Banbury is advised to travel with Virgin Trains between London Euston and Birmingham New Street, and take services south. A bus replacement service will be between Banbury and Leamington Spa
