Oxofrd’s newest professional theatre company is bringing its first ever tour to Chipping Norton Theatre on Sunday (September 29).
A sell-out success in Oxford in 2012, Flintlock Theatre will perform its unique production of the classic Russian comedy The Government Inspector at the popular venue.
The company’s trademark dance and mad-cap physical storytelling style creates a hilarious experience, punctuated by a fast and furious Klezmer soundtrack.
The play tells the story of Anton Antonovich, a mayor in small-town Russia who is in the midst of a crisis. A government official is on his way to inspect his district but the streets haven’t been swept for months, there are chickens in the courthouse and Anton has been somewhat liberal with the accounts.
The inspector is willing to overlook this in exchange for the odd generous bribe, but is he quite who he says he is or will Anton and his band of buffoons get what’s coming to them? For information and tickets visit www.chippingnortontheatre.co.uk
