Pupils are collecting their A-Level results in schools across Banburyshire today (Thursday)

For many the crucial results will seal students places on university courses.

The Banbury Guardian is visiting schools to interview pupils and we will be posting updates on our website throughout the day giving students reactions to their results.

Michael Goodwin, headteacher of Sibford School, said he is delighted with this year’s results despite the fact that the statistics show a decline in the percentage of grades A* to A compared to national average.

He said: “Anyone who knows anything about Sibford School will be well aware that we believe that the statistics tell very little about the true picture,

“Behind the figures lie tales of fabulous achievement and I think our students should be very proud of their results.”

Kineton High School pupil Lucy Marlow who gained two A* grades, one A and one B becomes the school’s first ever pupil to gain a place at Oxford University.

Headteacher Julia Morris said: “I’m really really pleased, we got another exceptional set of results. Our students are doing remarkably well so I’m really really proud of them.”

They have worked really hard, achieved their best and – in nearly all cases – got into a university of their choice. Congratulations to them all.”
