John ‘Scottie’ Scott, a resident at Larkrise Care Centre in Banbury’s Prescott Close, celebrated his 100th birthday last Tuesday.

Mr Scott was born in Carlisle in 1914 but spent time in Ireland during the Second World War as a mechanic. He then moved to Banbury where he worked as a groundsman at Alcan for many years until he retired.

Larkrise activity co-ordinator Lorraine Roberts said: “John was very proud of his work there. He loved to socialise at the working men’s club and he loved snooker and football.” Mr Scott is pictured with care assistant Lauren Dowson.
