A POPULAR village restaurant which specialises in homemade pies and puddings is set to expand its business into Banbury town centre.
Kathy and Anton Hayter, who run the Crown and Tuns in Deddington, are working to transform the vacant Coach and Horses pub in Butchers Row, Banbury.
The couple have been successfully running the Crown and Tuns, which is more commonly known as Pudding Face, The Pie Place, for about ten years and are now preparing to introduce a restaurant into Banbury town centre.
They will lease the building from Hook Norton Brewery, which owns both the Deddington and Banbury sites.
James Clarke, managing director of the brewery said: “I’m absolutely delighted the pub will reopen soon as a Pudding Face. Anton and Kathy are two of our most successful tenants and have done a fantastic job in Deddington and we look forward to this offer being extended to Banbury town centre.”
The Coach and Horses has been closed since about November and work has since been taking place behind the scenes to refurbish the site, funded by both the brewery and its tenants. Mr Clarke said the majority of changes will be made to the kitchen but there would be a “brighter” feel inside the building.
Recently signs with the Pudding Face logo have gone up in the building advertising for bar and kitchen staff, chefs, cooks and cleaners.
Pudding Face in Deddington is well known for its high quality selection of homemade pies and puddings and a menu which changes on a regular basis.
Although no specific details have been released regarding the restaurant’s menu Mr Clarke said he expected it to be “similar” to the Deddington venue.
No official date has been set for the restaurant’s opening but it is expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Mr Clarke added: “Anton and Kathy have very high standards in their business so watch this space.”
Anyone interested in applying for a vacant position at the new pub should apply with a CV, photo and covering letter to Pudding Face at the Coach and Horses, Butchers Row, Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX16 5JH.
