A Banbury veterinary practice held a successful pet bloodbank on Tuesday.
Hawthorne Lodge on West Bar Street hosted the event, which saw dogs have their blood taken to be stored by the charity Pet Bloodbank UK and used by vets across the country.
Amanda Tudhope, veterinary nurse at Hawthorne Lodge, said: “We have done this for the past year and we take blood from dogs that will be used for emergency situations, it is really important. The charity also does microchipping for free for any pets that have not been done already.”
The blood will be stored at the charity’s processing unit in Loughborough until needed. It is hoped more bloodbank events will be held in Banbury in the future.
