The scene at the North Bar/Castle Street junction after a car collided with a person crossing the road in a wheelchair

Emergency services were at the scene of a road traffic collision on the junction of North Bar and Castle Street in Banbury about midday today (Saturday) after a car collided with a person crossing the road in a wheelchair.

The casualty was taken to hospital for treatment but the injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Police cordoned off one lane of the junction and were directing traffic.

Firefighters at the scene said the occupant of the wheechair had ‘a lucky escape’.

Another car was also involved in the collision and one driver was cut free from one of the vehicles and was being treated at the scene by ambulance.
