For the first time, Banburyshire’s over-50s will be able to access an NHS endorsed exercise class from the comfort of their homes.
By signing up to the free Generation Games service, people can request a free copy of the exercise DVD, or play it directly via an online account.
Generation Games is a countywide physical activity network aimed at increasing provision for and participation of those aged 50 and over.
Co-ordinated by Age UK Oxfordshire, the initiative is supported by the NHS.
Head of the service Anna Hegley said: “Physical activity should not be limited by budget or location, and this DVD makes it as easy as possible for everyone to benefit from exercise.
“It is part of the core Generation Games message of remaining active to lead a longer, happier life.”
The exercise video, named Generation Games: At Home is created in partnership with Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust’s Sport and Exercise Medicine Department.
It features carefully selected seated and standing exercises suitable for the over-50s that can be tried by people of all fitness levels.
