Traffic on the southbound of the M40 at junction 11 (Banbury) is currently stationary following a lorry fire this afternoon (Thursday).
Emergency services are currently on scene dealing with the fire after a lorry carrying hay caught alight shortly before 3pm. Delays are up to 50 minutes and it is likely that the closure will remain in place for a number of hours.
The vehicle will need to be recovered after the fire has been extinguished and once that has been done, any potential damage to the motorway infrastructure will need to be assessed.
The vehicle is situated on the main carriageway within the junction and traffic is being diverted using the southbound exit slip, over the roundabout and re-joining the M40 southbound via the entry slip road.
Drivers can expect delays near the A422 Hennef Way and the A361. A diversion is currently in place via the slip roads.
Banbury Guardian reader Adam Harris has captured this video of the fire.
