Lorry drivers fined over breaching weight restrictions on Chalbury roads

Five drivers who breached weight restrictions on roads in Charlbury were fined by Oxford Magistrates after being reported to trading standards.

The defendants all pleaded guilty by post and one case was withdrawn. The court action was taken after trading standards collected information from concerned residents.

Weight restrictions breached were the 7.5 tonne weak bridge limit and the 7.5 tonne environmental weight restriction at Charlbury. All defendants were ordered to pay £150 in costs.

Adam Williams, 24, of Bampton, Oxfordshire, breached both restrictions on November 3, 2015. He was fined £600.

Daron James Woodley, 46, of Curbridge, also breached both restrictions on November 3, 2015, and was fined £600. Paul Andrew Keogh, 50, of Swindon, breached the weak bridge limit on December 8, and was fined £500.

Jaskarn Singh, 23, of Slough, also breached the weak bridge limit on December 10 and was fined £300. Darren Graham Watts, 45, of Swindon contravened the weak bridge limit on October 30 and was fined £400.

Williams, Woodley and Singh were ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge, Watts a £40 victim surcharge and Keogh a £50 victim surcharge.
