A Bloxham-based PR and marketing agency made sure it celebrated International Left Handers’ Day on Tuesday – as the entire staff is left handed!
That all six office staff at Propel Technology are left-handed is rare enough – but add the entire out-sourced support team comprising five individuals and you have a bit of a phenomenon!
The firm’s co-founder and director, Claire Dumbreck, said: “I’d like to think that we are unique in many ways and that we are defined by the quality of our client service, our deep sector knowledge and our ability to come up with the best ideas.
“But there is one previously little-known area where we undoubtedly stand out – all of us are left-handed.”
“We only recently stopped and wondered at this phenomenon following the appointment of our sixth team member when, in the process of setting up his laptop, we discovered our IT consultant was also left handed.”
The company’s 100 per cent left-handed workforce is a bit of a mystery to its director.
“We don’t recruit for left-handedness or query candidates’ handedness in the interview process and we generally don’t discover the employees are left-handed until they turn up for their first day at work,” said Mrs Dumbreck.
She added: “For me, this begs two questions.
‘Have we grown this way because left-handed people are naturally attracted to each other, and if so, why?,’ and ‘does being left-handed naturally make us better at PR and marketing?’ I’d love to hear from anyone who could enlighten us.”
Propel Technology is a PR and marketing agency for engineering and technology organisations, with particular expertise in automotive and motorsport technology, heating and renewable energy and science-based professional services.
