The developer wanting to build a new supermarket in Shipston-on-Stour has submitted a second application for the site.

Ainscough Strategic Land (ASL) had an initial application for a supermarket, petrol station, community building and housing on land north of Campden Road refused by Stratford-on-Avon District Council in January last year. It is currently appealing the decision and on Friday submitted a separate proposal for 215 homes on the same site, without a supermarket.

John Brooks, planning director at ASL, said: “The appeal proposal, which includes a supermarket, is very much our priority. The new application has been prepared as a direct result of the lack of support for our mixed use scheme by planning officers and committee members and is in light of the council’s acknowledgement that 10,800 homes need to be built in the district.”
